Motocamping EDC

Everyday Carry (EDC) sets are quite popular lately. To be honest with you, it definitely sounds like a "prepper" habit to me and I am not a "prepper". Still I have my EDC items and those change depending on circumstances.

Motorcycle EDC meets Camping EDC

When we are talking about motocamping, of course we cause a clash of two worlds and two sets of requirements. For example when I ride I do not carry pocket knife or when I go caravan camping I do not bring a wrench. (maybe I should)

On my motorcycle trips I carry

• An allen key
• A screwdriver
• A wrench
• A USB-C cable
• A pack of tissues

sometimes I also add

• A bottle of water
• Some first-aid kit

As you can see these are more hardware for urgent small repairs or settings on the road.

When it comes to camping I always have

• A firestarter e.g. match or lighter
• A multitool
• A pocket knife
• A pocket lamp
• A power bank

Sometimes I add

• A couple pain killers
• Bug repellents
• A couple first-aid items like band-aid

There are as many common items as different items I have on these lists. I use a tank rucksack for the combined EDC set. That allows me to easily access them, easily take them with me when I park the motorcycle and finally open up space in the top case and back seat for camp equipments.

So taking the best and worst of two worlds I end up with the following list.

• An allen key
• A screwdriver
• A wrench
• A multitool
• A pocket knife
• A pocket lamp
• A USB-C cable
• A pack of tissues

Followed by the optionals

• A couple medicines
• First-aid kit
• Bug repellent.

You may realize that two pieces were dropped from the list 1- Power bank: Thanks to USB cable and plug on the motorcycle, I charge my phone on the road and do not need any power banks for short camp trips. 2- A bottle of water: In our first motocamping article I already wrote that I carry a couple liters of water. So at this point I don't need to enlist water in EDC.
